About
Conceived as a place to eat and sleep, Stockholm Stadshotell offers 32 luxurious rooms and suites, two restaurants, a cocktail bar, private dining rooms, a sauna with cold plunge, and a lush courtyard. Every part of the hotel was created through close collaboration between architects, artists, and craftspeople, resulting in an environment that seamlessly unites historic heritage with modern comfort and design.

A Historic Landmark, Renewed
Stockholm Stadshotell stands as a living testament to the city’s rich heritage, housed in a culturally significant building carefully restored in 2025. Originally commissioned by Queen Dowager Josefina in memory of her late husband King Oscar I, the building was completed in 1875.
Then as now, it is distinguished by its sandstone-colored façades, central church hall, and palatial character. It holds the highest heritage classification from the City of Stockholm Museum.

Eat
Exquisite food and drink are at the heart of Stockholm Stadshotell. The hotel is home to two notable restaurants with ties to renowned Stockholm venues such as Babette, Café Nizza, Schmaltz, and Tengu. Guests enjoy Nordic cuisine with international touches, each dish carefully prepared from seasonal ingredients under the direction of Head Chef Olle T. Cellton.
On the entry level, the lively Bistro offers a menu showcasing the freshest local produce. One floor up, the former chapel has been transformed into an elegant Dining Room for a more exclusive and personal experience.
In summer, the hotel’s courtyard becomes a green oasis with a relaxed, inviting atmosphere for meals and drinks under the parasols.
Attentive service is felt throughout the hotel. In-room minibars are thoughtfully stocked with high-quality products, hand-picked by our sommeliers and chefs to elevate every part of your stay.

Sleep
Our 32 luxurious rooms and suites combine modern convenience with classic style. Each has its own charm and story—no two rooms are alike.
Interiors feature built-in wardrobes, natural materials, and a calm palette. Distinctive touches include burled birch bed frames, Swedish pine floors, oak-paneled wardrobes, and custom-woven rugs by Swedish artisans. Some rooms include select pieces from the beloved brand Svenskt Tenn—founded in Stockholm in 1924 by Estrid Ericson and later joined by Josef Frank—an institution in Swedish design known for timeless style and high quality.
The beds offer exceptional comfort with Italian linen sheets. Minibars are carefully curated and bathrooms feature exclusive products. Every detail is designed to make guests feel cared for, inspired, and a little indulged.
Collaborations
The design philosophy behind Stockholm Stadshotell draws inspiration from the Arts & Crafts movement of the 1870s. Born as a response to industrialization, the movement emphasized craftsmanship, high-quality materials, and the value of the human hand in every creation. These principles inform every aspect of the guest experience with us. Stockholm Stadshotell offers intentionally intimate, carefully crafted experiences built on authenticity and sustainability. Inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement, we emphasize skilled craftsmanship, premium natural materials, and genuine human encounters, helping our guests feel inspired and cared for throughout their stay.
